Tenant Verification Flow

Overview

Wunderflats’ tenant verification process was slow, scattered, and unclear — making it harder for users to secure rentals and adding strain to support teams.I redesigned the flow into a single, guided page with AI-powered validation and clear progress tracking, reducing verification time and increasing completion rates.

The Challenge

The old process sent users across multiple pages with vague instructions and manual review delays of over 24 hours. Users abandoned the process, bookings stalled, and trust suffered.

Hypotesis

By centralising the verification steps into a single, guided interface with instant feedback, landlords and tenants would complete the process faster, require less support, and feel more confident in the platform.

Research & Insights

Through analytics review, user interviews, and journey mapping, I discovered:
- Users weren’t sure where or when to upload documents
- No progress feedback led to uncertainty and drop-offs
- Error messages were unhelpful, leaving users stuck

Design Approach

- Consolidated all steps into one verification hub
-
Added a visual progress tracker to reduce uncertainty
- Implemented real-time feedback for uploads
- Designed actionable error messages to guide users forward

Reflection

This project reinforced how centralizing a complex task and providing clear feedback can transform both speed and user confidence. Small UX touches — like progress tracking and precise microcopy — drove the biggest gains.
